Launched in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch established Nintendo‘s dominance in handheld gaming. In July 2021, the Switch OLED model brought minor upgrades but wasn’t a true successor. Now, leaks suggest the brand is preparing to reveal its next-gen console, the Nintendo Switch 2, with intriguing details emerging online.

A recent leak on Reddit has shed light on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. User NextHandheld, who claims to have seen the final iteration of the console, has shared a wealth of information, including design details, release window, and potential launch title.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch is rumored to feature a redesigned, magnetically attached Joy-Con system using Hall effect technology. It will reportedly support existing game cartridges, ensuring backward compatibility. Leaked images from @deckwizardyt showcase an updated dock with a larger, curved design and expanded connectivity options. Additionally, the console’s buttons appear larger than those of its predecessor.
The leaks also suggest the console will launch with an LCD display, with an OLED version likely to follow later. Excitingly, Mario Kart 9 is rumored to be the launch title, marking the franchise’s first major entry since Mario Kart 8 debuted in 2014. According to earlier reports, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to feature an 8-inch display, noticeably larger than the original model’s 6.2-inch screen. It is also rumored to include 12GB of RAM—three times the memory of its predecessor—and a new CPU/GPU capable of delivering 1080p resolution at 60fps in docked mode.
While these details remain unconfirmed, the growing number of leaks suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 is nearing its official announcement, which is rumored to take place in late March or early April.
