Samsung has announced the launch of its revolutionary refrigerator featuring “AI hybrid cooling technology,” which will debut at the CES 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in January. This cutting-edge appliance promises to deliver more efficient and precise cooling than conventional refrigerators, thanks to its innovative integration of AI algorithms and advanced thermal systems.

Samsung’s new refrigerator introduces a hybrid cooling system that combines a traditional compressor with a semiconductor-based Peltier module. The Peltier module works alongside the compressor to address high cooling demands. For example, when storing hot food, loading large quantities, or dealing with elevated internal temperatures, the Peltier module activates to achieve rapid temperature reductions.
Under regular conditions, the refrigerator operates entirely on its AI-powered inverter compressor. This compressor, which consumes less energy and dynamically optimizes speed through AI algorithms, ensures extended operation while reducing power consumption compared to Samsung’s traditional F3 compressors.
The Peltier module also doubles as a heating system, allowing for precise temperature control. One key feature, Hybrid Precise Cooling, minimizes temperature fluctuations during automatic defrost cycles. This technology enhances food preservation, extending the freshness of items like pork and salmon by up to 40% and 20%, respectively.
Samsung’s CES prototype has a capacity of 900 liters, with the inclusion of the Peltier module adding 25 liters of usable volume. This extra space accommodates deeper 60mm shelves, increasing the storage area by 13.8%. The design allows for an additional 1/9 of 355ml beverage cans compared to traditional refrigerators, providing greater convenience for users.
The upcoming refrigerator will also meet the highest standards of energy efficiency, receiving the prestigious Energy Star certification. Samsung plans to release the mass-produced model, RM80F23VM***, in 2025.
