The animated render showcases the new magnetic Joy Cons, new buttons, an adjustable kickstand, and a larger display. Thanks to the new Joy Cons, stick drift might finally be addressed. But that’s not all, Nintendo has also revealed a new Mario Kart game that will likely debut alongside the upcoming hybrid console. Similar to its predecessor, the Switch 2 would likely support handheld play as well as a docked mode.

Another notable announcement was the inclusion of backwards compatibility for both digital and physical Nintendo Switch games. A dedicated Nintendo Switch Direct for this console is set for April 2, with various Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events being hosted across the globe. These start from April 4 and will go on till June 1. While an official launch date is still unclear, the Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed to be released later this year. It will likely launch sometime in the third quarter of 2025.
