Asus appears to be expanding its ROG Phone 9 series with a new variant, the ROG Phone 9 FE, potentially a more affordable “Fan Edition.” Certifications in Malaysia (SIRIM) and Thailand (NBTC) reveal the model number “ASUS_AI2401_N,” confirming its existence and possible launch in these regions soon. The same model number was previously seen on the GSMA certification site.

Potential Specifications
While official details remain scarce, the ROG Phone 9 FE may feature similar to the ROG Phone 8 features as the ROG Phone 8, due to the similarities in their model numbers (ROG Phone 8 has AI2501C model number). With that in mind, we can expect the ROG Phone 9 FE to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, rather than the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip which powers the rest of the ROG Phone 9 lineup. This suggests the FE variant will have slightly reduced performance to offer a more budget-friendly price point.
Key Features
Asus is likely to retain signature ROG Phone features in the FE model, such as the AirTrigger button, AeroActive cooling accessories, and advanced heat dissipation systems. It will be interesting to see if the device ends up getting the Anime vision display on the back or not. If it does end up being an exact copy of the ROG Phone 8, then we can expect the device to come with the following specifications.
ROG Phone 8 features

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 features a 6.78-inch FHD+ Samsung E6 AMOLED display with a 1-165Hz refresh rate, 2500 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with gimbal stabilization, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, a 32MP telephoto lens with OIS, and a 32MP front camera.
It has a 5500mAh battery with 65W HyperCharge and 15W wireless charging. For connectivity, the device has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. As for protection against the element, it comes with an IP68 water resistance certification.
