The Redmi K80 Pro, launched in November 2024 in China, is the company’s first K-series phone to feature a telephoto camera since the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, which debuted in March 2020. It seems that Redmi plans to elevate photography to the next level with the upcoming Redmi K90 Pro by equipping it with a periscope telephoto camera.

In the above Weibo post, tipster Digital Chat Station is seen talking about a “Pro” model from a sub-series phone by a known brand. While he did not explicitly mention the name of the device, the comments section is filled with people speculating that he could be referring to the Redmi K90 Pro.

The leak reveals that the Redmi K90 Pro will be equipped with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The K80 Pro’s telephoto camera supports up to 2.5x optical zoom and a 60mm focal length. With the inclusion of a periscope camera, the K90 Pro may deliver an elevated photography experience, particularly for long-range zoom shots.

Under the hod, the Redmi K90 Pro is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip, which is expected to debut in October this year. On the front, it will continue to feature a flat OLED panel with 2K resolution like the K80 Pro. While nothing has been revealed about the K90, it may come with key specs, such as 2K OLED screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a telephoto camera.

The tipster did not say anything about the Redmi K90 series’ launch timeframe. However, it appears that it could be scheduled for a November 2025 launch in China. The K90 series may remain exclusive to the Chinese market. However, the K90 and K90 Pro may likely get rebranded as the Poco F8 and F8 Pro globally in 2026.
