TCL’s Thunderbird has launched a new ultrawide monitor, the Q8 Special Edition, in the Chinese market. The gaming monitor is priced at 3,299 yuan ($451) and will go on sale on February 18 on JD.com.

TCL Thunderbird Q8 Special Edition Specifications
The Q8 Special Edition brings a 3440 x 1440 resolution to a curved 1500R panel, wrapping around your field of view for a more immersive gaming and multitasking experience. Its 21:9 aspect ratio stretches the screen real estate by 30% compared to standard 16:9 monitors, making it a solid pick for gamers, movie lovers, and anyone juggling multiple windows at once.
For those who demand speed, the monitor offers a 180Hz refresh rate and a 1ms GTG response time, keeping motion smooth and lag-free. It supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility to eliminate screen tearing and stuttering.
MiniLED backlighting is a key highlight here, with 2304 LEDs split into 1152 local dimming zones, pushing the contrast ratio to a striking 1,000,000:1. With a peak brightness of 1600 nits and VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification, HDR content looks more dynamic, with deep blacks and bright highlights.
Color accuracy also gets a boost, thanks to QD Quantum Dot tech. The display covers 97% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, 95% of AdobeRGB, and 99% of sRGB, with a ΔE<2 rating for pro-level precision. TCL has also included TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue light tech to help reduce eye strain during long sessions.
Connectivity is solid, with two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port that supports 90W power delivery, video output, and data transfer, handy if you want to hook up a laptop with a single cable. There are also two USB-A 3.0 ports, a USB-B upstream port, and a headphone jack.
On the design front, RGB ambient lighting on the back adds a gamer-friendly aesthetic, while an adjustable stand offers tilt, swivel, and height adjustments. TCL has also thrown in a slide-out headphone hook for convenience and built-in dual 3W speakers for onboard audio.
Earlier today, TCL also launched the new 300Hz gaming monitor under its Thunderbird brand at a surprisingly affordable price.
