Youdao has introduced the SpaceOne full-screen dictionary pen, an AI-powered learning tool designed for students and professionals. It features the DeepSeek-R1 reasoning model, which provides detailed, step-by-step explanations instead of just translations. The pen is priced at 1,699 yuan ($234) and is now up for sale on JD.com.

Youdao SpaceOne Specifications
The SpaceOne equips a 4.4-inch (1210×568 resolution) ultra-wide display, which not only offers a crisp reading experience but also makes it easier to navigate through scanned text and AI-generated explanations. The screen features TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light emission, ensuring comfort during extended study sessions. It sports an OLED panel, delivering vibrant colors and sharp text, making scanned documents and AI-generated explanations clearer than those on traditional dictionary pens.
It comes with built-in 4G connectivity, allowing users to access AI-powered tutoring and translation services without relying on Wi-Fi. For those who prefer wireless networks, it features dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G) for a fast and stable connection. Under the hood, it comes with a 1650mAh battery with USB-C charging.

The SpaceOne sports an 8MP AI camera, capable of capturing entire sections of text, complex math problems, and even graphical questions with high accuracy. Once scanned, the DeepSeek-R1 AI model takes over, offering step-by-step breakdowns and logical explanations. This AI-powered reasoning system sets it apart from traditional dictionary pens, which usually just provide direct translations or word definitions.
Additionally, it supports multi-language learning with real-time voice recognition, translation in over 100 languages, AI pronunciation correction, and a virtual speaking coach. The SpaceOne also offers advanced reasoning, real-time translation, and AI-driven pronunciation coaching for a more interactive learning experience.
The pen equips 64GB of internal storage, allowing users to store scanned text, study notes, and AI-generated explanations with ease. For audio learning, it features Bluetooth support for wireless headphones and a Type-C wired earphone option for a more traditional setup.
In terms of portability, it sports an ergonomic sliding body design, making it comfortable to hold and easy to carry. It also comes with a pressure-sensitive wide pen tip, enabling users to scan both full lines and individual words effortlessly. Additionally, it equips an intelligent parental control mode, allowing parents to monitor learning progress and restrict access to certain content.
Xiaomi also launched a similar pen last year called the Mijia Dictionary Pen C1, which features a 3.02-inch display, 26 million word entries, and 0.3-second OCR recognition with 98% accuracy. It supports offline searches, AI-powered learning strategies, and a 100-day standby battery, making it a versatile tool for students.
