Casio has introduced the G-Shock DW-5000R in India, following its launch in markets like the US, UK, and EU. This model is a tribute to the original 1983 G-SHOCK DW-5000C, staying true to its classic design while incorporating modern updates.

Casio DW-5000R G-Shock

The DW-5000R closely resembles the original with its bezel design, featuring a flat top surface with “PROTECTION” lettering and the G-SHOCK logo. The dial retains the red, blue, and yellow accents from the 1983 model, each representing a key feature: red for passion, blue for 200-meter water resistance, and yellow for shock resistance. A textured brick-patterned dial enhances its rugged look.

Made at Yamagata Casio, the brand’s premium manufacturing facility, the watch has a stainless-steel case with a mirror-polished finish, maintaining the original “Shock Resistant” design. Modern additions include a high-brightness “Super Illuminator” LED backlight for better visibility in low light and a bezel and band made from bio-based resin for a reduced environmental impact.

Weighing 76 grams and measuring 48.9 × 42.3 × 13.1 mm, the watch retains G-SHOCK’s signature durability, offering shock resistance and a five-year battery life via a CR2016 cell. Functional enhancements include a multi-function alarm, 24-hour countdown timer, and 1/100-second stopwatch.

Pricing & availability

Priced at INR 14,995, this timepiece will be available at select Casio and G-SHOCK exclusive stores nationwide, as well as online at casio.com/in.

In other news, Casio has unveiled its G-Shock GM-110D series in Japan, featuring a forged stainless steel bezel with an intricate finish, paired with a shock-absorbing glass-fiber-reinforced resin case. It offers 200-meter water resistance, shockproof construction, anti-magnetic protection, an analog-digital display, LED backlight, world time, a stopwatch, and a three-year battery life.
