The mid-range smartphone market has never been more competitive, and two of the latest entrants, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro and Realme 14 Pro+, bring compelling features to the table.
While both phones aim to deliver premium experiences at accessible prices, they take distinctly different approaches. Let’s dive into the specs, design, cameras, and overall user experience to see which one stands out.

Design & Display
Nothing has built its reputation on unique design, and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro continues that trend. It sports the brand’s signature semi-transparent rear panel with Glyph LEDs, offering a futuristic look that sets it apart from conventional slabs. The camera placement on the 3a Pro is also radical, featuring a semi-circular array, adding to its visual identity.
The Realme 14 Pro+, on the other hand, leans into a more elegant, premium aesthetic with a curved AMOLED display and color-changing back (in certain variants). While Nothing wins on the “standing out in a crowd” factor, Realme delivers a more polished and traditional premium feel.
On the display front, Realme takes the lead. The 14 Pro+ boasts a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3840Hz PWM dimming, ensuring an ultra-smooth and flicker-free experience. The Nothing Phone 3a Pro, while still featuring a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, falls behind in terms of resolution and overall brightness calibration.
Performance & Software
Both devices are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, making them evenly matched in raw performance. The Realme 14 Pro+, however, offers up to 12GB RAM with 512GB storage in its highest variant, whereas the Nothing Phone 3a Pro maxes out at 256GB storage. If you need more space, Realme is the better pick.
In terms of software, Nothing OS 3.1 on top of Android 15 provides a cleaner and more distinct experience, optimized for minimal bloat and smooth animations. Realme’s Realme UI 6.0, while feature-rich, includes additional AI features like AI Ultra Clarity 2.0, AI Snap mode, and AI Eraser 2.0, but can feel cluttered at times. If you prefer stock-like Android, Nothing OS is the better choice, whereas Realme UI offers more AI-driven features for users who want extra functionality.
Cameras
Camera setups differ significantly between these two phones. The Nothing Phone 3a Pro features a 50MP main sensor (Sony LYT-600) with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom (with up to 60x ultra-zoom), and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, it has a 50MP selfie camera, making it a strong choice for content creators.
Realme takes a different approach, with a 50MP Sony IMX896 main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto with OIS and up to 120x digital zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Its 32MP front camera is slightly weaker than Nothing’s, but still more than capable for selfies and video calls.
While Nothing’s periscope telephoto maxes out at 60x zoom, Realme takes it a step further with 120x zoom, though digital zoom at such high levels isn’t practical in most scenarios. If you need a better front camera, Nothing wins, but for extreme zoom capabilities, Realme has the edge.
Battery & Charging
Battery performance is a key factor in daily use, and both phones bring long-lasting power. The Nothing Phone 3a Pro packs a 5000mAh battery with 50W wired charging, reaching 50% in just 19 minutes and 100% in 56 minutes. Realme goes further, featuring a 6000mAh battery, one of the highest capacities in this segment, paired with 80W SuperVOOC charging, which delivers 50% charge in just 24 minutes. However, neither phone supports wireless charging.
If you want a phone that lasts longer on a single charge, Realme wins with its larger battery and faster charging. But Nothing still offers solid endurance with fast charging speeds.
