Last year, Nubia followed up its Z60 Ultra flagship with a Photographer Edition. And it looks like the company is sticking to that playbook for 2025 as well.

The Z70 Ultra Photographer Edition has now appeared in China’s MIIT certification database under the model number NX737J. While the listing doesn’t explicitly name the phone, reliable Weibo tipster WhyLab has confirmed that this is, in fact, the special-edition device.

As expected, the certification confirms 5G connectivity, dual SIM support, and Android as the operating system. Beyond these basics, though, MIIT doesn’t reveal much else.

But don’t expect a major hardware refresh. The Photographer Edition will likely share most of its internals with the standard Z70 Ultra, with any changes focused on design.

Nubia Z70 Ultra Photographer Edition: What can we expect

Last year’s Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition introduced a striking dual-tone finish, combining vegan leather and glass on the back using a micro-etching process. Nubia might do something similar this year as the TENNA images show the device with a leather back.

Spec-wise, the Z70 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and an under-display camera, with ultra-slim 1.25mm bezels. Under the hood, it runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Elite) chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Powering it all is a 6,150mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

For photography, the device packs a 50MP main sensor with a variable aperture (f/1.59–f/4.0), a 50MP ultrawide with macro capabilities, and a 64MP periscope telephoto with OIS. The phone also has a SLR-style mechanical shutter button for precise focus and shooting.

With the MIIT certification in place, it’s only a matter of time before Nubia makes things official. We will keep you updated on it.
