The Minimalist Light Phone 3 has officially launched, significantly upgrading its predecessor while staying true to its minimalist roots. The new model replaces the E Ink display with an AMOLED panel, adds a camera, and supports 5G, making it more functional. However, with a starting price of $599 (early sale) and a standard retail price of $799, the cost is notably higher than that of the previous Light Phone 2.
Minimalist Light Phone 3 specifications and features

The Light Phone 3 features a 3.92-inch AMOLED display with a matte glass finish, offering a faster and smoother experience than its predecessor. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (SM4450) chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The device has a 50-megapixel rear sensor that captures 12-megapixel images by default and an 8-megapixel front camera for video calls.

In terms of build, the Light Phone 3 is made from a mix of aluminium, glass, and recycled plastic, and includes a fingerprint sensor, a two-step shutter button, and a scroll wheel for brightness adjustment. A 1,800mAh battery powers the phone, though its endurance remains to be tested.

Light Phone 3 runs a custom Android-based interface but lacks an app store. It includes built-in tools like calling, messaging, navigation, alarms, notes, music, podcasts, a calculator, and hotspot functionality. The phone also has NFC hardware, though features like digital payments are yet to be activated. Finally, the device measures 106 x 71.5 x 12mm and weighs 124 grams.
