The Redmi A5 was just announced in the Indonesian market last week. Now, Xiaomi has officially released this budget smartphone model globally. For under $80, the device offers a larger battery, a smooth display, and much more. So here are all the details.
Redmi A5 Specs
The Chinese tech giant’s new Redmi A5 model sports a tall 6.88-inch display with an HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 450 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, it is equipped with the UNISOC T7250 SoC, which is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. A sizeable 5,200mAh battery pack powers this smartphone, which supports 15W wired fast charging via a USB Type-C port.

For photography, the rear features a 32MP camera with LED flash while the front houses an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls. Other notable features include a side mounted fingerprint scanner, AI face unlock, Android 15 GO Edition, 4 GB of virtual RAM expansion, a dedicated microSD slot, dual SIM support, dual band WiFi, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
Pricing and Availability
Xiaomi has announced the Redmi A5 in the global market for just $79. Depending on the region, this model is already on sale in various markets. However, the brand has recently confirmed the launch of the POCO C71, which is expected to be a rebranded Redmi A5 in the Indian market on 5th April 2025.
