Honor unveiled its cutting-edge AI-powered photo-editing tools at Cloud Next 2025 last week. The collaboration, highlighted by Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at Honor, aims to enhance smartphone experiences with advanced imaging capabilities, aligning with Honor’s ALPHA PLAN to lead the global AI device ecosystem.

The partnership builds on features like Magic Portal 2.0, now expanding with Google’s Gemini large language models to deliver innovative features. A standout is AI Outpainting from Honor’s AiMAGE suite, powered by Google’s Imagen model. This feature lets users expand photos up to twice their original size. Not to mention, it allows seamless reframing or rotating of the image post-capture. Fang calls it “a game-changer,” as it lets users capture moments without thinking much about the framing. The optimized generative fill allows the user to modify the image to match their vision.
Another highlight is AI Eraser, which simplifies photo editing by removing unwanted objects with a few taps. Leveraging Google’s Imagen technology, it fills gaps with realistic, context-aware content, minimizing chances of artifacts in the image. As Fang notes, this makes editing effortless and reliable, enhancing user accessibility.
Honor’s commitment extends to affordability, with the recently launched Honor 400 Lite in Europe featuring AI Outpainting, AI Eraser, and AI Upscale. This move brings high-end imaging to budget devices, supported by Google Cloud’s robust infrastructure. Fang underscores that this collaboration pushes technological boundaries, creating a new AI-enhanced device standard and fulfilling the ALPHA PLAN’s vision announced in March.
By collaborating with Google, Honor aims to make these tools globally accessible, transforming how people perceive smartphone photography. This partnership not only elevates smartphone imaging but also sets a precedent for AI integration across Honor’s expanding product lineup.
