This news, still unconfirmed, has folks wondering why Samsung would stray from the well-known FE branding for its affordable foldable.
For months, the Galaxy Z Flip FE—sometimes called the Z Flip7 FE—has been hyped as Samsung’s wallet-friendly take on flip-style foldables, set to debut with the premium Z Flip7. The FE label, tied to recent hits like the Galaxy S24 FE, screams “great value,” but this recent rumor suggests Samsung might call it the Galaxy Z Flip Xe instead.
Why the switch to a new name?
Maybe Samsung wants to avoid the budget stigma of FE to keep its foldable lineup feeling fancy, or they’re just testing a fresh vibe. Nothing’s set in stone yet, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Previously leaked specs point to the Exynos 2400e chipset powering the device, paired with a 12MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP selfie shooter—pretty much a Galaxy Z Flip5 with a newer processor. It’s likely to keep the Flip6’s 6.7-inch AMOLED main display and 3.4-inch cover screen to cut costs, but other tweaks could surprise us.
Sticking with “Fan Edition” would instantly signal “affordable flagship,” while Xe feels like a wildcard—maybe a nod to “exclusive” or “experimental.” Recent X posts spotted the device as Z Flip Xe in Samsung’s GSMA database, though it flipped back to FE later, adding to the mystery.
