Motorola Razr 2025

Motorola has dropped fresh foldables for the year 2025 — and they bring notable upgrades over the already great Razr 2024 models. The newer models have a more durable hinge, smoother display, and several other upgrades. But are those upgrades enough to make the switch to the 2025 Motorola Razr? Let’s dive deep into the comparison to find out the answer.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Design

Both Razr foldables are essentially the same from the outside, offering a premium look and finish. However, the 2025 model brings a new titanium-reinforced hinge plate that’s 4x stronger than surgical-grade stainless steel and can withstand up to 35% more folds than the previous generation.

According to Motorola, the new hinge paired with ultra-thin glass makes the display 30% smoother, which makes it the smoothest Razr display to date. The Razr 2025 also offers stronger protection against dust and solid particles with an IP48 rating, while the 2025 model has no dust protection rating.

The Razr 2025 emphasizes deeper Pantone collaboration to offer modern color options: PANTONE Gibraltar Sea, PANTONE Spring Bud, PANTONE Lightest Sky, and PANTONE Parfait Pink. With the 2024 model, you’ve got to choose from Koala Grey, Spritz Orange, and Beach Sand.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Display

The display is largely unchanged — a 6.9” LTPO AMOLED main display with 120Hz refresh rate and 3000nits of peak brightness. The outer one still measures 3.6 inches with 90Hz refresh rate and 1700nits peak brightness support.

Motorola says the Razr 2025’s display feels smoother and has deeper blacks. That’s the only difference between the two screens.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Performance and software

The Razr 2025 is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X chipset, which promises faster performance (especially when it comes to on-device AI) over the Dimensity 7300X on the Razr 2024. It’s also the first foldable phone with this MediaTek chipset.

Moto AI on Razr 2025

Motorola has also worked on AI. The newer Razr models support advanced Moto AI prompts, such as Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This. There’s also the Next Move AI feature that recognizes what’s on the screen and offers suggestions for the next steps. Moto AI also brings Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Smart Connect with AI. On top of this, the outer display on Razr 2025 supports Gemini and Gemini Live for quick information.

The Razr 2025 will get three Android updates and four years of security patches, like the Razr 2024.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Camera

Both Razr 2025 retains the camera hardware from its predecessor. So, you still get a 50MP OIS-enabled primary camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The inner display has a 32MP camera sensor.

The best part of having a foldable phone is that you can also use the main camera setup to capture front-facing photos and videos for the best results.

While the hardware remains unchanged, the 2025 model uses AI for photo enhancement. Moto AI can add a cinematic effect, improve dynamic range, reduce noise, and capture finer details in each photo for peak quality without the user needing to mess with the settings. The newer model also has adaptive stabilization that improves video stability.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Battery & charging

The Razr 2025 gets a 4,500mAh battery — a nice bump from Razr 2024’s 4200mAh. This should offer a few extra hours of screen-on time. The charging speed, however, remains the same at 30W (wired) and 15W (wireless).

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Razr 2024: Verdict

The Motorola Razr 2025 brings some solid improvements — a more durable hinge, smoother display experience, better dust protection, and a modest battery upgrade. It also leans heavily into AI features and design refinements, giving it a more modern, polished edge over the 2024 model.

But here’s the thing: most of these upgrades are incremental. The display, cameras, and overall look haven’t changed dramatically, and the performance jump is only noticeable if you care about on-device AI.

So, unless you’re someone who absolutely needs the latest and greatest — or your 2024 Razr is showing its age — you’re not missing much by sticking with what you have. The Razr 2025 is a nice refresh, but not a must-have upgrade.
