MSI has officially introduced the MPG 242R X60N gaming monitor, expanding its lineup of esports-focused displays. The monitor was first unveiled at CES 2025 and is now making its global debut. It targets competitive gamers who prioritize fast response times and ultra-smooth visuals over high resolution, positioning itself as a high-performance display for fast-paced gaming environments.

MSI MPG 242R X60N Specifications
The MPG 242R X60N features a 24.1-inch Rapid TN panel with a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. The panel is designed for speed and responsiveness, catering to professional-level FPS and esports gameplay where clarity and motion precision are critical.
The monitor supports an ultra-fast 600Hz refresh rate, along with a minimum gray-to-gray (GtG) response time of 0.1 milliseconds. MSI includes MPRT Sync, a black frame insertion technology, to reduce motion blur and enhance visual sharpness during high-speed gameplay.
In terms of color performance, the panel covers 119% of the sRGB color space, 93% of DCI-P3, and 89% of Adobe RGB. It holds a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and reaches a peak brightness of 500 nits in HDR mode and 350 nits in SDR. The typical contrast ratio is rated at 1000:1.
MSI packs the monitor with gaming-focused features like AI Vision for enhanced visibility in dark scenes, AI Crosshair for better aiming precision. The monitor also supports legacy 4:3 aspect ratios like 1280×960 and 1024×768 at up to 600Hz, catering to players who prefer classic display setups.
For connectivity, the MPG 242R X60N offers two HDMI 2.1 FRL ports, one DisplayPort 1.4a, and a USB-C port with 98W Power Delivery. It also includes a USB-B upstream port, three USB-A downstream ports (all rated at 480Mbps), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The monitor supports KVM functionality for switching between multiple connected devices.
Ergonomically, the monitor comes with a four-way adjustable stand that allows users to tilt, swivel, pivot, and adjust height for optimal viewing comfort. The design is compact and tailored for desk setups that demand flexibility.
Pricing and Availability
MSI has not yet confirmed the pricing or availability details for the MPG 242R X60N. However, as the gaming monitor market begins to include more displays above 500Hz, pricing will likely play a crucial role in determining how it stacks up against alternatives from both major and lesser-known brands.
