HyperOS 2.2 update rollout

Xiaomi is finally rolling out the anticipated HyperOS 2.2 update outside China. It’s now available to several devices across Europe and will expand to more markets over the coming weeks and months.

As shared by folks at Xiaomi Time, Xiaomi is updating eight of its devices to HyperOS 2.2 in Europe. The initial rollout is currently limited to HyperOS Beta testers. However, it won’t be long before it starts rolling out to non-beta users as well.

Xiaomi typically rolls out the latest releases to beta users first, and HyperOS 2.2 is no different. If you want to be among the first to get the latest updates, sign up to become a beta tester via the Mi Community app, but note that early builds may contain annoying bugs. For a stable software experience, you need to wait a little extra to get fully-cooked software.

What’s new in HyperOS 2.2?

The update introduces a range of improvements across the system to enhance the usability and stability of HyperOS. There are also some new features. The HyperOS 2.2 update optimizes animation responsiveness and horizontal screen applications for a polished user interface.

Xiaomi has greatly improved screen flashing and visual disruption when opening or closing apps. It has also resolved gesture failure and abnormal display issues. The Camera app is updated with a modern visual design and streamlined menus and settings. Additionally, there are new watermark options with customizable positioning.

The HyperOS 2.2 update also brings the Xingchen Netcom feature, which enables voice communication without internet connectivity. Several changes have also been made to icons and wallpapers, including advanced blur functionality for desktop wallpapers, lens effects to lock screen wallpapers, and improved text visibility to desktop icons through shadow effects.

The update also enhances storage management, gesture prompt animations, and TalkBack for an improved user experience.
