Anbernic has released its new Android handheld, the RG Slide, in both China and international markets. The device features a sliding design inspired by the Sony Xperia Play and PSP Go, combining retro aesthetics with updated Android hardware. It is priced at 1,268 yuan in China and starts at $189.99 globally.

Anbernic RG Slide Specifications
The RG Slide features a spring-loaded slider mechanism that reveals a full set of tactile gaming controls, including rubber dome buttons, anti-interference analog sticks, and a built-in six-axis gyroscope. It runs Android 13 and supports a wide range of emulators, including those for GameCube and PlayStation 2. The device is also capable of streaming games and casting content to external displays.
The handheld sports a 4.7-inch LTPS In-cell touchscreen with a 1280×960 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It offers 500 nits peak brightness and OCA full lamination for improved visual clarity. Despite the retro design, the display supports responsive multi-touch input and delivers sharp, vivid visuals suited for both 2D and 3D games.
Inside, the RG Slide is powered by the 6nm Unisoc T820 chipset, which includes four Cortex-A76 cores and a Mali-G57 MP4 GPU. The device comes with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with support for microSD cards up to 2TB. This setup ensures smooth performance for emulator apps like PPSSPP, Dolphin, and AetherSX2.

The RG Slide features stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB-C port with 1080p video output support. It includes a 5000mAh battery that delivers up to 6 hours of gaming and charges in about 3 hours using a 10W charger.
Anbernic has also integrated several software tools, such as a floating game assistant, real-time translation, and AI-driven game guides. It also features a built-in haptic motor and customizable power-saving options to improve the overall user experience.
The RG Slide weighs 379g and comes in black and white. It targets retro gaming and Android handheld fans, focusing on portable emulation and nostalgic design rather than competing with high-end devices like the Steam Deck or ROG Ally.
In related news, Ayaneo recently launched the Pocket S2 and Pocket S2 Pro handheld gaming consoles, featuring a detachable D-pad and a large 10,000mAh battery.
