Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7, its thinnest and most refined foldable smartphone to date. The new foldable not only gets a design overhaul with a slimmer, lighter build but also packs the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for top-tier performance. From improved durability, a better hinge mechanism, and upgraded cameras, here’s everything you need to know about the brand’s latest flagship foldable.

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Design & Displays

The South Korean tech giant is finally catching up on the foldable design elements with Chinese competitors since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a lot thinner now. To recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measured 5.6mm when unfolded and 12.1mm when folded. But now, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures just 4.2mm unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. For a quick comparison, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218 grams, while the Z Fold 7 is lighter at 215 grams. Samsung has also made improvements to the hinge with what it calls the Armor Flexhinge along with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

The cover display is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, FHD+ resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for protection, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the primary screen is a gorgeous 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a QXGA+ resolution (2184 x 1968) and 120Hz refresh rate. A notable downgrade this year is the removal of the Galaxy S Pen from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. But this allowed the brand to make the UTG (Ultra-Thin-Glass) slightly thicker.

2. Performance

Samsung is bringing top tier performance on the Z Fold 7, which is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. This chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade to the battery size or charging speeds. So we still get a 4,400mAh cell with 25W wired fast charging and wireless charging support (similar to its predecessor). While the internal hasn’t received a massive upgrade, the company has worked on improving the software experience, along with Galaxy AI and improved Gemini integration.

3. Camera

One leap in the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a true flagship grade camera. The rear brings the same 200MP camera (1/1.3-inch sensor, F1.7 aperture), which is found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Edge. Although, the other two cameras leave a lot to be desired since they consist of a 12MP ultra wide angle lens and a 10MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. The under-display selfie camera on the primary screen is gone. Now both the main and cover screen have a punch hole cutout for the 10MP front facing shooter.
