The year 2025 has been an eventful for foldable phones, especially the book-style category. Once an experimental niche, foldables now stand toe-to-toe with premium slabs, offering not just larger screens in your pocket, but better hardware, meaningful software experiences, and surprisingly slim, durable designs.
Samsung, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo have all pushed the boundaries this year, each carving out their own approach to what a book-style foldable should be. Here’s a breakdown of the top options worth your money right now.
1. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a focus on lighter design and improved usability. The phone weighs just 215 grams and measures 4.2mm when unfolded. It features a larger 8-inch QXGA+ AMOLED 2X display with up to 2600 nits of peak brightness, replacing the under-display camera with a 10MP shooter for clearer results.
Samsung has upgraded the processor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and added a 200MP main sensor to the rear camera setup. It keeps the 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP 3x telephoto modules. One UI 8, based on Android 16, brings new AI tools like Photo Assist and Gemini Live, along with multitasking-focused enhancements for the large screen.
It retains the 4400mAh battery with 25W wired, 15W wireless, and reverse charging support. IP48 water and dust resistance is still present. Pricing starts at $1,999.99, and the device will go on sale starting July 25 in select countries.
