Sony India has introduced new professional imaging and audio gear aimed at content creators, studios, broadcasters, and filmmakers. The company has announced two 4K handheld camcorders equipped with AI-powered autofocus and subject recognition features, along with a compact, high-resolution XLR shotgun microphone for precise audio recording. These devices are intended to support demanding applications across broadcast, OTT, documentary, and educational content creation.

The newly launched PXW-Z200 and HXR-NX800 camcorders are designed for mobility and precision, featuring a 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS sensor and Sony’s G Lens with 20x optical zoom, extending digitally to 40x in HD using Clear Image Zoom. AI-based autofocus and real-time subject recognition enable accurate tracking and framing, while support for 4K 60p and 120p recording enhances flexibility. A new BIONZ XR image processor and AI-processing unit drive these capabilities.

Each camcorder integrates a variable ND filter, dual lens rings for quick control over focus and zoom, and assignable buttons for custom operation. Connectivity is extensive, with HDMI, USB-C, LAN, and SDI (on PXW-Z200), along with support for XAVC formats and cloud-based streaming via RTMP, SRT, and FTP. Their design includes recycled materials, foldable viewfinders, and removable mic holders. The PXW-Z200 is priced at Rs 4,60,990 and the HXR-NX800 at Rs 3,80,990.

Sony also unveiled the ECM-778 XLR shotgun microphone priced at Rs 98,990. With a lightweight 102g body and 176 mm length, it is tailored for versatile setups. Its newly designed capsule, brass acoustic tube, and refined circuitry deliver stable mid-lows and crisp high frequencies. A low-cut filter, dual wind screens, and aluminum housing contribute to durability and noise isolation, making it suitable for both outdoor and studio use.
