Apple has announced the AirPods Pro 3, the latest generation of its premium in-ear headphones. The new model introduces several major upgrades, including improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), an updated in-ear design, and a built-in heart rate sensor for fitness tracking.
AirPods Pro 3 Specifications
The AirPods Pro 3 feature a redesigned multiport acoustic architecture that enhances sound clarity and spatial audio. Apple claims the new ANC system removes twice as much background noise as the AirPods Pro 2 and four times more than the original model. The earbuds also include adaptive transparency and personalized EQ for more natural ambient listening and better audio tuning.
Apple has redesigned the fit of the AirPods Pro 3 based on thousands of ear scans and research data. The earbuds are smaller than before and now come with five ear tip sizes, including a new XXS option. The new design improves in-ear stability during workouts and is rated IP57 for sweat and water resistance.
The AirPods Pro 3 now include a custom heart rate sensor that uses infrared light to measure blood flow. When paired with an iPhone, users can track heart rate, calories burned, and other metrics for over 50 workout types through the Fitness app. It also includes a new feature called Workout Buddy, which provides real-time feedback using on-device AI and fitness history.
Live Translation is also available on the AirPods Pro 3. The feature supports in-person conversation translation for several languages, including English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. It uses Apple Intelligence and real-time audio processing to help users understand and speak with others across language barriers.
Battery life has improved with up to eight hours of music playback with ANC and up to 10 hours in transparency mode. Conversation Boost is now automatic, enhancing voices in noisy environments, and the earbuds support Apple’s hearing health features, including hearing tests and certified protection for EU and UK regions.
Apple says the AirPods Pro 3 use 40% recycled materials, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 65% recycled plastic in the case. Packaging is entirely fiber-based.
Pricing and Availability
The AirPods Pro 3 are available to pre-order today and will be available in stores from September 19. The earbuds are priced at $249 in the US.
