Redmi has teamed up with Airtel once again to launch a new “exclusive” version of its budget-friendly smartphone. The company has officially launched the Redmi A5 Airtel Exclusive Edition in India today, which succeeds the Redmi A4 Airtel Edition from last year.
As you might have guessed, the twist here isn’t in the hardware, but in the offers. Buyers will need to unlock the device using an Airtel prepaid SIM and keep it active with a recharge of ₹299 or more on Airtel’s Truly Unlimited plans for at least 18 months. In return, customers get a few extras, like a 7.5 percent discount (up to ₹750 off the sticker price) and 50GB of free data.

The phone itself is priced at ₹5,999 and comes in a single variant with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If interested, you can pick it up in three color options, Jaisalmer Gold, Just Black, and Pondicherry Blue, through Flipkart.
Redmi A5 Airtel Exclusive Edition Specs
On the hardware side, the Airtel edition is no different from the standard Redmi A5. It features a large 6.88-inch display with a 1650×720 resolution, a smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 240Hz touch sampling.
The screen is backed by TÜV certifications for low blue light, flicker-free use, and circadian-friendly brightness. Powering it is the Unisoc T7250 chipset clocked up to 1.8GHz.

The Redmi A5 runs Android 15 out of the box, and Redmi promises two years of Android updates and four years of security patches. For cameras, there’s a 32MP AI dual setup on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. A 5200mAh battery keeps things running, with support for 15W fast charging.
Other practical features include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, IP52 dust and splash resistance, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and what Redmi calls a “150% volume boost.”
