The Thermal Master P3 is a pocket-sized thermal imager aimed at technicians, hobbyists and electronics professionals who need precise, close-up temperature diagnostics without carrying a bulky instrument. It blends a manual-focus macro lens with on-device image enhancement and a solid metal shell, delivering a surprisingly professional tool for inspecting PCBs, HVAC systems, automotive components and more.

The P3 ships with a short extension cable, a USB-A adapter and a Lightning adapter for older iPhones, plus a compact hard case. The 50cm cable is handy for awkward positions, but a longer option would help when mounting to rigs or using with a laptop. Because the camera is a dongle, it lacks a native mount; a tripod adapter or small clamp would have been a useful inclusion for hands-free work. Power draw on the host device is very low, but extended sessions will still affect a phone’s battery.

Where the P3 excels is close-up diagnostics: manual focus plus fine thermal sensitivity make PCB fault-finding and component-level inspection much easier than with fixed-focus dongles. The hardware quality and tactile lens control stand out at this price point. On the downside, the high-quality upscaling introduces latency, the Windows client needs further polish, and there is no true fused visible/thermal overlay; the app’s picture-in-picture mode is helpful but imperfect for precise alignment at short distances.
