Vivo has officially confirmed that it will be rolling out the OriginOS 6 update in India. The major software upgrade brings Android 16 OS and marks a departure from the brand’s previously global custom skin, FuntouchOS. So here’s what to expect.
Vivo OriginOS 6: India Release Timeline
In a recent teaser, the Chinese tech giant confirmed the 15th October 2025 launch date for the OriginOS 6. This makes the release in line with the wider global release, which is also set for the same date. To recall, Vivo and iQOO branded devices had previously shipped with FuntouchOS in the global market, while the OriginOS platform was exclusive to the brand’s home market of China. But now, Vivo appears to be streamlining the OS for its smartphones worldwide.
The OriginOS 6 was just unveiled in China last week, bringing the latest iteration of Android. Vivo’s new custom skin gets a notable revamp to its user interface, taking hints from Apple’s iOS 26 and its Liquid Glass. There are also plenty of changes to the software’s look, namely the app icons, lockscreen, widgets and its customizations, new lighting animations, and much more.
Apart from this, the brand also promises improved memory recycling, improved energy efficiency, better gaming performance, and better background optimizations as well. AI is another big focus with the OriginOS 6 update, with deeper integration and the introduction of Xiao V, which is the new in house AI assistant. You also get various AI tools like AI eraser in Live Photos and AI powered Files, Email, and Notes app that help make finding crucial items easier.
