Apple has unveiled its next-generation iPad Pros that brings various upgrades over its predecessor. With the new M5 chip, the brand’s premium tablets bring upgrades in performance across CPU, GPU, and AI workloads. So here’s everything new and improved on the 2025 iPad Pro.
Apple’s M5 iPad Pro: What’s New?
The Cupertino based giant has just announced the iPad Pro (2025) in two size variants, namely 11-inch and 13-inch models. Both of these are equipped with the latest M5 chip, which also powers the new MacBook Pros and the upgraded Apple Vision Pro. These arrive in four storage options, namely 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. The 256GB and 512GB variants pack a 9-core CPU with 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, while the 1TB and 2TB versions have a 10-core CPU with 4 cores performance cores instead of 3. All four models arrive with the 10core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine.

As per Apple’s official claims, the M5 iPad Pro is up to 3.7x times faster than the M1 iPad Pro in 3D rendering with ray tracing in Octane X, while also seeing a notable 1.5x bump compared to last year’s M4 powered iPad Pros. There are similar upgrades in video transcode performance in Final Cut Pro, faster AI image generation in Draw Things, and AI video upscaling in DaVinci Resolve. Another notable addition is that the latest iPad Pros feature Apple’s in-house C1X modem and N1 wireless chip, which brings support for the latest WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 standards.
While much of the other specs remain similar to the 2024 iPad Pros, the M5 models get faster charging. The 2025 iPad Pro comes with a 40W Dynamic Power Adapter that can charge the iPad to 50 percent in about 30 minutes. Apple claims that the flagship tablet will offer up to 10 hours of web surfing on WiFi.
The 11-inch model has a 2420 x 1668 resolution, and the 13-inch version offers a higher 2752 x 2064 pixels. You also get 1600 nits of peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate (ProMotion), OLED panel, True Tone support, P3 wide color gamut, and an anti reflective coating.

For photography, the rear has a lone 12MP camera with LiDAR scanner and ProRes video recording support, while the front features a 12MP shooter with the Center Stage feature. Apple’s new iPad Pros house a quad speaker setup and run on the new iPadOS 26. Other notable features include Face ID for security, a super slim 5.1mm body, and support for the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro (sold separately).
