Early details around the Galaxy S26 Ultra are starting to surface, and they point to a fairly restrained approach to camera upgrades.
According to the latest leak, Samsung appears to be focusing on refinements rather than pushing new sensors. One area mentioned is lens coating. The company is reportedly working on improved coatings aimed at reducing lens flare and ghosting, particularly when shooting scenes with bright light sources. Similar solutions are already used by rivals such as Vivo and Sony.
Some camera processing tweaks are also said to be in the works. These include adjustments to skin-tone rendering, which has drawn criticism on recent Galaxy models for looking too warm or yellow in some situations. Wider apertures on select lenses have also been rumored, which could help with low-light performance.
That said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera system doesn’t appear to be getting a major overhaul. Unlike most rivals, there’s no indication of larger and advanced main and telephoto sensors. The quad-camera setup is expected to carry over largely unchanged from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with the possible exception of the 3x telephoto, which could see a modest sensor upgrade.

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut in early 2026, likely at a February Unpacked event, with availability following in March. Pricing is expected to remain in line with the S25 Ultra. If the leaks hold up, the Galaxy S26 Ultra looks set to focus on smoothing out known camera issues rather than introducing headline-grabbing changes.
