The Epic Games Store is starting 2026 with another round of mystery free games, and the usual speculation has already kicked off across the community.

Epic’s holiday giveaway, which has already handed out 15 free titles, is currently wrapping up with Chivalry 2. The medieval multiplayer slasher is available to claim until January 1 (around 10:00 AM ET / 15:00 UTC), closing out Epic’s 2025 giveaways on a strong note.

Attention has now shifted to the final two mystery games, scheduled to go live next. An Epic staff member has teased both as good picks, alongside a pair of cryptic hints that have fueled plenty of guessing on Reddit’s r/EpicGamesPC.

The first clue reads: “Victory requires everyone to leave; but is claimed only by those who decide when, how, or even if that departure happens.” Many believe this points to an extraction-style game, where escaping is just as important as surviving. Hunt: Showdown is a popular guess, especially since it hasn’t appeared on the Epic Games Store yet. Others have mentioned Phasmophobia, given its emphasis on coordinated exits and risk-heavy decision-making.

The second hint is more strategic: “Three rise from a fallen kingdom; victory belongs not to the last army standing, but to the one who turns fractures into a single mandate.” That has led to speculation around large-scale strategy titles. Total War: Three Kingdoms is frequently mentioned, along with Crusader Kings III. Some have also suggested Dragon Age: Inquisition, thanks to its focus on uniting divided factions.

Both mystery games will be revealed soon, with countdown timers already live on Epic’s free games page. Once claimed, they’ll be permanently added to players’ libraries, continuing Epic’s weekly free-game tradition into the new year.
