Honor has announced the Magic8 Pro Air, a new slim flagship that focuses heavily on size and weight. The company says it is its lightest high-end phone so far, and the numbers back that up to an extent.

The phone weighs 155g and measures 6.1mm thick, putting it among the slimmer flagships currently on the market. It uses a 6.31-inch OLED display with narrow bezels on all sides, listed at 1.08mm. Honor is clearly positioning the device for users who want a smaller phone without dropping to a lower tier.

On the outside, the Magic8 Pro Air uses a metallic satin-style finish on the back, produced through a multi-layer coating process. Honor compares it to automotive finishes. Color options include Fairy Purple, Light Orange, Feather White, and Shadow Black. The frame is made from aluminum, with the company claiming improved strength despite the thin profile.

Honor Magic8 Pro Air specifications:

Performance is handled by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. Battery capacity is rated at 5,500mAh, which is relatively large for a phone this slim. Charging support includes 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Honor also highlights an energy density figure of 917Wh/L, though real-world results will depend on usage.

The camera setup consists of a 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor with optical stabilization, a 50MP ultra-wide with 112° field of view, and a 64MP periscope telephoto offering 3.2x optical zoom. Honor is introducing an AI-assisted flash system designed to adjust output across different zoom levels, along with a new strobe-style portrait mode for low-light scenes.

Other features include IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and support for SIM and eSIM. Peak HDR brightness is listed at 6000 nits.

Pricing starts at 4,999 yuan for the base model, with higher configurations reaching 5,999 yuan. Sales begin on January 23, 2026, following the current pre-order phase.
