Several reports have revealed that Xiaomi is working on a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered flagship phone dubbed the Xiaomi 17 Max. Rumors have claimed that Xiaomi may unveil it in April, but a new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station suggests a different launch window. Here’s a look at what to expect from this phone.

The above post suggests that the Xiaomi 17 Max is tentatively scheduled to break cover in May in China. Apart from revealing the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the new leak does not state anything about its other specifications.

Recent reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will house a 6.9-inch flat OLED 1.5K screen with support for a 120Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is expected to ship with HyperOS 3-based Android 16.
The 17 Max is expected to feature a 50-megapixel front camera. Its back panel will have a secondary display, and its rear camera setup will comprise a 200-megapixel Samsung HPE main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered device is expected to ship with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. One of the major highlights of the 17 Max is that it will house a huge 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It is also expected to feature an x-axis linear motor and a dual symmetric 1115 speaker setup.
