While HyperOS 3.1 isn’t a major upgrade, it still brings meaningful changes and quality-of-life improvements. It addresses one of Android’s longstanding update pain points, which is long, intrusive update installs, by introducing Super OTA. This is a next-gen update mechanism that applies system updates faster and more smoothly, with minimal reboot time.
The latest software also refines core UI elements with smoother animations, refreshed system apps like Gallery and Weather, expanded lock screen customizations, and a more interactive HyperIsland. It also improves cross-platform integration with native Apple AirPods support, enabling quick pop-up pairing and access to spatial audio on compatible earbuds.
HyperOS 3.1 reorganizes the accessibility options for easier access, and select modes now feature quick gesture controls. It also includes numerous improvements under the hood, resulting in better memory management, smoother app launches, and reduced frame stuttering.
