Which Nothing phones will get Android 17?
Ten Nothing devices are in line for Android 17 (Nothing OS 5.0): the Nothing Phone (4b), Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3), Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Lite, Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, and the CMF Phone 2 Pro. Nothing skipped the Android 17 beta this cycle, so the stable Nothing OS 5.0 rollout is expected to begin around November 2026, most likely with the flagship Phone (3) first.
Nothing has been one of the more dependable brands when it comes to software. It was among the first to wrap up its Android 16 (Nothing OS 4.0) rollout, and attention has now shifted to Android 17. Google released the stable Android 17 update for its Pixel phones in mid-June 2026, and Nothing is expected to follow with its own build later this year.
The Android 17 update for Nothing phones will arrive as Nothing OS 5.0, following the company’s naming pattern, Android 15 shipped as Nothing OS 3.0 and Android 16 as Nothing OS 4.0, so Android 17 lines up with Nothing OS 5.0..
Nothing didn’t run a public Android 17 beta this cycle, but it’s expected to be among the first non-Pixel brands to ship the stable release. Based on its update policy and past cadence, the Nothing OS 5.0 rollout should begin around November 2026, most likely starting with the flagship Phone (3).

While this is still an unofficial list, it wouldn’t differ from the official one when announced. That’s because it’s based on the official software update policy. If your Nothing phone is on the list, it’s guaranteed to receive the Android 17 update when the rollout begins.
Not ready to wait until the end of the year? Nothing’s current release, Nothing OS 4.1, is rolling out now, check which phones have already received it and what it adds.
Which Nothing phones miss out on Android 17?
Three Nothing devices won’t get Android 17. The original Nothing Phone (1) reached the end of its lifecycle in July 2026, it received its final update, ending on Android 15, and no longer gets security patches either. The Nothing Phone (2) and the CMF Phone 1 both stay on Android 16 (Nothing OS 4.x): each has already received the last major OS upgrade Nothing promised it, so Nothing OS 5.0 is off the table for them, though both continue to get security patches for now.
If you’re on one of these, it may be a good time to move to a phone with a longer runway. The Nothing Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro carry OS support through Android 19, and the flagship Phone (3) gets an extra major upgrade beyond that.
If you’re still using an outdated Nothing phone, now might be the right time to upgrade to a newer model with longer software support. The Nothing Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro have just been released, promising OS updates until Android 19. Or, you can get the flagship Phone (3) for an extra major upgrade.

This is still an unofficial list, but it’s built on Nothing’s official software-update policy, so any phone here is effectively guaranteed the Android 17 update once the rollout begins. The newest addition, the Nothing Phone (4b), launched in July 2026 on Nothing OS 4.1 with a commitment of three major OS upgrades, so it’s covered through Android 19.
While Nothing hasn’t revealed anything about Android 17 yet, Google has already released a few public betas, offering a sneak peek at the upcoming features and changes. You can check them out on this page. The stable version is expected to go live for Google Pixels in June, while other brands, including Nothing, will take additional time to fine-tune the software and add more features. For Nothing phones, we can expect the Android 17 rollout to kick off in Q4 2026.
