Samsung has only just rolled out the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro, so seeing something new already wasn’t really expected. But that’s exactly what turned up, quietly, inside the Galaxy Buds app.
Digging through the latest version of the app, there’s a new name listed: “Galaxy Buds Able.” No context around it, no announcement, just a reference sitting there. And it immediately feels a bit… off.
Part of that is the name itself. Samsung’s earbuds have followed a pretty clear pattern so far, Pro, FE, numbered generations. “Able” doesn’t really line up with any of that. It doesn’t sound like a final retail name either. More like something internal that slipped through.
The model number adds to that feeling. It’s listed as SM-U600, which is unusual because every Galaxy Buds model so far has used the SM-R series. That’s been consistent for years, so switching to something entirely different is hard to ignore.
Then there are small inconsistencies in the app itself. In some places it says “Galaxy Buds Able,” in others it just says “Able.” That kind of thing usually points to something that’s still being worked on, not something that’s ready to be shown.
As for what this actually is, there isn’t much to go on yet. The name has led to some guesses around accessibility or hearing-related features. But nothing concrete so far.
Overall, this feels less like a product reveal and more like an early trace of something in development. The kind of thing that shows up in software before it’s fully figured out.
It might turn into a proper product, or it might not. Either way, it’s one of those small leaks that raises more questions than it answers.
