Dangbei has announced a new 64GB storage variant of its Super Box H5 set-top box in the Chinese market. The device is set to go on sale today, priced at 449 yuan ($66).

The new model is equipped with an upgraded Allwinner H618 chipset featuring a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor. It includes a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU for efficient graphics and stable playback, 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM for multitasking and faster app launches, and 64GB of eMMC storage for apps, media, and system data.
The device supports advanced video decoding, including 8K resolution at 24fps with H.265 codec and 4K output at 60fps for sharp visuals on compatible displays. It features HDR10 and HDR10+ for improved contrast and color accuracy, along with an advanced image processing engine that enhances details, reduces noise, and optimizes dynamic scenes in real-time.
Dangbei has built the Super Box H5 on a customized Dangbei OS based on Android 12, providing improved privacy features and broad app compatibility. It allows installation of third-party apps, access to streaming platforms, and a built-in media player that supports over 300 audio and video formats, including Blu-ray ISO, MKV, and MP4. Additionally, it supports NAS access through NFS and SMB protocols, catering to home media server needs.
The Super Box H5 features dual-band Wi-Fi with 2.4GHz and 5GHz support using a triple-antenna design. It includes Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting wireless accessories like headsets and speakers. The device offers HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, AV output, and DC power input for wide compatibility with devices and displays.
The device supports wireless casting via AirPlay, DLNA, and Huawei Cast+, along with AI-powered voice control and Dolby audio passthrough. It consumes less than 10W of power and supports external USB storage for greater flexibility.
