Google just announced a new set of AI tools for Android called Gemini Intelligence. The basic idea is to have your phone handle more of your daily busywork. These features are rolling out this summer, starting with the new Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10, and will eventually come to other Android phones, smartwatches, and laptops later in the year.

The main change is app automation. Instead of just answering questions, Gemini can now navigate your phone to do things like book a workout class or order groceries. You can even long-press the power button over a screenshot of a grocery list, and Gemini will build the cart for you. You can watch its progress through a notification and just confirm the final purchase.
Browsing is getting a similar update. In late June, Chrome for Android will add an auto browse tool to help with routine tasks like reserving parking. Android’s Autofill is also getting a boost, pulling context from your apps to fill out complex forms so you don’t have to type as much.

For texting, Gboard is adding a voice feature called Rambler. If you tend to use filler words, pause, or switch languages while using voice dictation, Rambler will clean up the audio and turn it into a clear text message before you send it.
Google is also adding a text-to-widget tool. You can type a prompt, like asking for a weekly recipe list or a widget that only shows wind speed, and Android will build a custom widget for your home screen.
Because giving AI access to your screen requires trust, Google is keeping these features opt-in. The company says it uses secure environments to process the data, and an upcoming update to the Android Privacy Dashboard will let you see exactly which apps the AI interacted with over the past 24 hours.
And whenever the assistant is doing something in the background, a notification will stay at the top of your screen that you can’t swipe away, so you’ll always know when it’s running.
