According to IDC’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker for Q1 2026, Motorola climbed from the ninth position in Q1 2024 to fifth place in just two years. During the same period, the brand’s market share reportedly increased from 4.6 percent to 8.9 percent. Motorola’s portfolio expansion across the Moto G series, Motorola Edge lineup, Razr foldables and the recently introduced Signature series has played a major role in this growth.

As per the brand, it has also been strengthening its premium positioning through collaborations and design-focused partnerships. Motorola smartphones have featured Pantone-curated colours and finishes, while the company has also highlighted DXOMARK-recognised camera systems on some of its devices. Partnerships involving Swarovski, Bose, and FIFA World Cup 2026 have further helped the brand build a more lifestyle-focused image in the market.

Motorola has additionally focused on AI-powered smartphone experiences through integrations with Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. These partnerships are aimed at offering more personalised productivity and AI assistant features across compatible devices. The company’s premium foldable segment has also expanded with newer Razr series models focused on AI features and advanced camera capabilities.

Apart from launching new products, Motorola’s retail and after-sales network expansion has also contributed to its market growth in India. The brand has continued strengthening partnerships across online platforms, offline retail stores and service centres to improve accessibility and ownership experience for customers across regions.

With its recent growth in the premium smartphone space and increasing AI focus, Motorola appears to be positioning itself more aggressively against established brands in India.
