Dangbei has launched a new pair of wireless earbuds in China, and they lean heavily into two current tech trends: open-ear clip designs and AI-assisted translation. The Dangbei Air 1S, priced at 1,299 yuan ($190), will officially go on sale on June 15th via JD.com.

Dangbei Air 1S Specifications
The case features a 2.04-inch AMOLED touchscreen built directly into the hardware. While we’ve seen screens on earbud cases before from brands like JBL, Dangbei is using this display for more than just skipping tracks or changing wallpapers. The screen acts as a visual aid for the earbuds’ real-time translation features, displaying translated text during face-to-face conversations so the other person can read along. It also handles basic media controls and includes a few extras like virtual pets and mini-games.

The earbuds themselves use a clip-on style that leaves the ear canal entirely open. They weigh 6.3 grams each and use a 0.5mm titanium memory alloy wire to grip the ear without applying too much pressure. Dangbei also says that the hardware has an antibacterial silver-ion coating.
For audio, the Air 1S relies on 12mm dynamic drivers and supports LHDC 5.0 decoding for higher-resolution audio, along with standard SBC and AAC codecs. Since clip-on designs naturally bleed sound, the company says it is using directional sound technology to help keep your audio private in public spaces.

The software focuses heavily on utility and productivity. The earbuds support real-time translation for 36 languages, and up to 190 languages for standard transcription. These also feature a four-microphone array that handles voice pickup and noise cancellation. Through a companion app, you can also record calls, generate text summaries, and create meeting notes.

Talking about other hardware specs, these include Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, dual-device pairing, spatial audio with head tracking, and an IP54 rating for basic dust and water resistance. Battery life sits at an estimated 8 hours for the earbuds, extending to 42 hours when factoring in the charging case. It also supports fast charging and a 10-minute charge will provide about 2.5 hours of playback.
In related news, Edifier recently launched the LolliClip SE clip-on earbuds with Dolby Spatial Audio, AI transcription, and a 40-hour battery, while Baseus unveiled the Bowie MC2 with LDAC, 11mm drivers, IP67 protection, and up to 55 hours of battery life.
