Creative has announced the XF1 (model MF1730), a new set of 2.0 stereo desktop speakers with built-in Hi-Res DAC. The speakers are priced at SGD $249 ($192), come in Black and White finishes, and will be available from July 16.
Creative XF1 Speakers Specifications
The speakers feature a bi-amplified design with a total continuous output of 72W RMS. Inside each unit is a 3-inch woofer. The system has a frequency response range of 55 Hz to 40 kHz, which allows it to carry an official Hi-Res Audio certification. If the 3-inch woofers don’t provide enough low-end for your preferences, Creative has included an expansion port on the back for a future subwoofer add-on.
The built-in DAC handles 24-bit / 96 kHz audio. You can use this via a USB-C connection or the standard 3.5mm aux input. For wireless listening, the inclusion of Bluetooth 6.0 keeps the hardware current. Alongside standard SBC and AAC codecs, the XF1 supports LDAC. If you have a compatible Android device, LDAC allows for higher-bitrate streaming than standard Bluetooth connections.
Physically, they are relatively standard desktop speakers, measuring about 6.1 x 3.9 x 7.5 inches each. The right speaker features a front-facing knob that handles volume control and lets you switch between your connected audio sources.
Creative also includes a pair of cork stands in the box. These are meant to angle the speakers slightly upward toward your ears and help dampen vibrations against your desk.
On the software side, the speakers work with the Creative Nexus app. The app includes a 10-band parametric EQ for adjusting the sound profile, along with a specific Desktop Mode designed to optimize audio performance for desktop listening.
