Oppo has expanded its lineup of compact premium smartphones with the launch of the Reno 16. While it may appear to be the natural successor to the Reno 15 Pro Mini (also known as Reno 15 Pro in some markets; model numbers CPH2813/CPH2811), the two devices take different approaches to performance, cameras, and battery life. Both feature a 6.32-inch display, premium design, and flagship-inspired camera hardware, but they target different types of users.

If you’re deciding between the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini and the newer Reno 16, here’s how they compare.

Both smartphones feature triple rear cameras with dedicated telephoto and ultra-wide sensors, but the primary camera differs significantly.

The Reno 15 Pro Mini comes with a 200-megapixel main camera alongside 50-megapixel telephoto and 50-megapixel ultra-wide cameras. The Reno 16 switches to a 50-megapixel primary sensor while retaining the same 50-megapixel telephoto and ultra-wide cameras. Both also include a 50-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

While a higher megapixel count does not always guarantee better image quality, the Reno 15 Pro Mini offers greater flexibility for cropping and high-resolution photography. The Reno 16 instead relies more heavily on Oppo’s updated computational photography and AI imaging features introduced with ColorOS 16.

Photography enthusiasts may lean toward the Reno 15 Pro Mini, while casual users are unlikely to notice a significant difference in everyday shots.

Both devices are also compatible with Oppo Bubble, a magnetic smart accessory that attaches to the back of the phone and features a small display for camera previews, notifications, and quick controls, adding extra convenience without changing the phone’s compact design.
