Xiaomi just listed a new Mijia LED Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Edition in China, and you can grab one for 29.9 yuan (~ $5). It’s a budget smart bulb, but it packs in features you’d expect from something pricier.
The bulb has a simple design with a standard E27 base, so it should fit most existing light fixtures. Its light-emitting surface is made from high-refractive-index PC material, which helps spread the light more evenly and reduces harsh bright spots. Xiaomi rates the bulb at 500 lumens, which should be enough to light up a medium-sized room.
The bulb also supports adjustable color temperature from 2700K to 6500K. That means you can use a warmer yellow light in the evening and switch to a cooler white light when you need brighter lighting during the day. The range is the same as the original Mijia LED Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Version launched in 2020. The main upgrade this time is a new, more energy-efficient LED bead.

As the name suggests, Bluetooth Mesh is one of the main features. It allows multiple bulbs to be connected and controlled together without using your Wi-Fi network. This means the bulbs won’t take up your router’s bandwidth, while the connection can continue working even when your Wi-Fi connection is unstable.
You can pair the bulb with your phone and control it through the Xiaomi Home app. If you already have a compatible gateway, you get more features, including voice controls for adjusting the brightness, as well as timers and delayed on/off schedules.
At under 30 yuan, this bulb is an easy way to start building out a smart lighting setup without spending much upfront.
