Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone is getting closer to becoming a reality, with more details now emerging ahead of its expected arrival. The device has been referred to by different names during its development, but a new report points towards a different branding strategy. The latest information also gives us an idea of how much Apple could charge for it.
iPhone Duo price and availability details
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could call its first foldable smartphone the iPhone Duo instead of the previously rumored iPhone Ultra. The name appears to highlight the device’s dual-screen design, while also distinguishing it from Apple’s existing iPhone lineup. The report claims that the entry-level model could cost $2,000, and come with 256GB of storage.
Higher storage configurations could reportedly push the price close to $3,000, or around Rs 2.5 lakh. Apple is said to have faced higher production costs, partly due to the ongoing memory shortage, but could absorb some of those expenses to keep the base model near the $2,000 mark. The company may instead pass more of the cost to buyers opting for higher storage capacities.
The iPhone Duo is reportedly expected to go on sale as early as October, with white and dark blue colour options. This would put its availability after the expected iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch, although the gap may not be particularly long.
As per other reports, the foldable iPhone is tipped to feature Apple’s A20 Pro chip and C2 modem, along with two 48-megapixel rear cameras and a 12-megapixel front camera. A magnetic hinge system is also expected, while Apple Pencil support could bring a more tablet-like experience to the larger internal display. Rumors also point to side-by-side app support and iPad-style multitasking.
