Google’s Pixel Tablet may have reached the end of its short run. The three-year-old device has started disappearing from Google’s online presence, with some key signs pointing towards its discontinuation. The changes also raise fresh questions about whether Google plans to return to the tablet market with another Pixel-branded device.
Pixel Tablet disappears from Google Store
The Pixel Tablet has been removed from the Google Store, while Google has also taken down the Tablet category from its main navigation menu. A direct link to the tablet’s product page now redirects to the Google Store homepage, making it difficult to find any official trace of the device.
The tablet was already marked out of stock before Google removed its listing completely. Its dedicated accessories remain visible, including the Pixel Tablet Case and Charging Speaker Dock, although most are unavailable. Third-party availability also appears to have dried up, with Amazon showing no stock and Best Buy listing the device as no longer available in new condition.
Google introduced the Pixel Tablet in 2023 as a hybrid device that could work as a conventional Android tablet and a smart home display when placed on its charging speaker dock. It launched at $499 in the US, with the dock sold separately, and became the only tablet in Google’s current hardware lineup.
A successor was reportedly considered, with the Pixel Tablet 2 said to have been planned with upgrades such as a 120Hz display and 4K external display support. However, Google reportedly cancelled those plans over profitability concerns. A possible third-generation model was also said to have been shelved.
Interestingly, Google had promised software updates for the Pixel Tablet through June 2028. While the company has not clearly stated whether that support commitment will change, the removal from its store makes a second-generation model look increasingly unlikely for now. For existing owners, the bigger question is how Google handles support after ending sales.
