Xiaomi launches its first heat pump washer-dryer at surprisingly high price

Xiaomi has launched its first heat pump washer-dryer in China. Called the Mijia Washing Machine with Delicate Wash Pro Supreme Edition Heat Pump Washer-Dryer 13kg, it is priced at 6,499 yuan (around $970) and is now available to buy through Xiaomi Youpin.

This model follows Xiaomi’s earlier washer-dryers, such as the Mijia Washing Machine Pro 12kg from January. That one offered a 12kg wash and 9kg dry capacity for 3,528 yuan. The new machine raises the wash capacity to 13kg, keeps the 9kg drying capacity, and switches the drying method to a heat pump.

Heat pump drying

As the name implies, the dryer’s highlight is the heat pump. A heat pump reuses the heat circulating inside the machine instead of producing fresh heat for every cycle. 

Xiaomi says this cuts drying energy use and claims it saves 73% more electricity than a condenser washer-dryer. You also get a dual-fan heat pump, which Xiaomi says speeds up drying by 49%. The heat pump sits at the top of the unit, and Xiaomi says its design lowers refrigerant flow resistance and improves heat exchange by 59%. These are all Xiaomi’s own figures, so treat them as claims until independent tests appear.

The machine has a standard-size body and combines washing, drying, and care in one unit. A high-density double-layer filter collects lint and debris. You can choose from 35 washing and drying programs and 11 conditioning programs.

For washing, Xiaomi uses its super electrolysis technology, which also appeared in the Mijia Washer Dryer Set Pro from December. The new machine has a wash ratio of 1.3 and can remove 20 kinds of stubborn stains and whiten yellowed clothes in a single wash. The company also claims that cold water sterilization with super electrolysis reaches a 99% sterilization rate.

Smart controls

The machine uses a washing and care system built on Xiaomi’s own algorithms and large language models. You describe the clothing material, color, and stains, and the system suggests a program and settings for that load.

The machine supports Xiaomi’s Surge Smart Connect. You can control it through the Xiaomi Home app and Xiaomi speakers, and you can check the washing progress remotely from your phone.

Xiaomi has not said whether the machine will launch outside China.
