Xiaomi has introduced a new travel mug to its Mijia product line. The Mijia Titanium Thermos Cup Tea-Water Separation Edition is a 500ml insulated flask that includes a detachable brewing chamber. It is priced at 199 yuan ($30), with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch on the Xiaomi Youpin platform at 10:00 AM on October 14th.

The thermos is designed for brewing loose-leaf tea and infused drinks on the go using a simple gravity-based system. It features a transparent, BPA-free Tritan tea chamber above the insulated flask, separated by a titanium filter. The chamber supports green tea, black tea, oolong, lemon slices, mint leaves, dried tangerine peel, ginseng, and other ingredients, while the main body holds the hot water for brewing.
To start brewing, you turn the sealed thermos upside down, which allows the hot water to flow through the filter and into the clear chamber. Because the chamber is transparent, you can visually check the color of the liquid to see how strong the tea is getting. Once it is ready, turning the bottle upright drains the brewed tea back into the insulated lower section. The wet leaves remain trapped in the top chamber, preventing the drink from over-steeping.
The main body of the cup, the removable filter, and the inner lining of the lid are all constructed from titanium. Xiaomi says that the titanium used has a purity of over 99%. Titanium is frequently used in travel drinkware because it is lighter than standard stainless steel, resists corrosion, and does not leave a metallic taste in the liquid. The thermos also features a rounded drinking rim for standard sipping.
If the brewing function is not needed, the thermos can be converted into a standard insulated bottle. The clear tea chamber can be completely unscrewed and set aside, allowing the lid to attach directly to the titanium base. The vacuum-insulated flask can maintain a liquid temperature of around 45°C for six hours.
For maintenance, the titanium filter can be removed, and the silicone sealing ring includes a pull tab so it can be easily taken out for washing. The Tritan tea chamber is thickened for durability, but Xiaomi advises against boiling it or soaking it in high-temperature water to avoid warping the plastic. The thermos will be available in two colors: Deep Space Gray and Moonlight Silver.
