India’s television market is seeing a shift as consumers increasingly look beyond simply replacing an existing TV. Larger screens, premium display technologies and connected-home features are becoming more important factors in purchase decisions. Xiaomi says its own sales trends reflect this growing interest in more immersive home entertainment experiences.

Xiaomi says it now has a TV user base of 1.3 crore in India, while the contribution of 55-inch and larger televisions within its portfolio has increased by 200% year over year. The company also points to strong demand for its larger QLED models, with its 75-inch QLED TV recording approximately 10 times the growth of its previous 75-inch offering. Xiaomi says its QLED segment also grew sixfold last year.

The broader market is showing a similar shift towards bigger displays. According to Counterpoint Research’s Q1 2026 India TV report, televisions measuring 55 inches and above recorded the fastest growth among screen sizes and accounted for nearly one-third of total shipments. This indicates that consumers are increasingly considering larger screens when upgrading their home entertainment setups.

QLED and MiniLED adoption continues to grow

Display technology is also becoming a bigger part of the purchase decision, according to Xiaomi’s data. QLED accounted for around 30% of India’s TV market, with the Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 segment seeing strong growth. Xiaomi’s own QLED business recorded sixfold growth last year, adding to the company’s broader push towards premium display technology.

MiniLED has also emerged as a fast-growing segment. Counterpoint’s Q1 2026 data cited by Xiaomi shows MiniLED shipments increasing by more than 13 times year over year, with televisions measuring 55 inches and above remaining the key driver of this growth. Together, these trends suggest that TV upgrades are increasingly being viewed as part of a broader home entertainment experience rather than a straightforward replacement purchase.

Xiaomi’s growing focus on televisions also reflects its broader strategy of expanding beyond smartphones and strengthening its Home business under its Human × Car × Home strategy. By growing its presence in larger screens, QLED and MiniLED televisions, the company is building out the Home pillar while offering consumers a more connected and immersive entertainment experience.
