Apple is preparing another hardware announcement as it continues its busy October release schedule. The upcoming showcase is expected to focus on Mac computers and tablets, with several product upgrades rumored. The company has invited members of the media to Los Angeles for a hands-on experience.
Apple could unveil new MacBook Pro models
Apple’s October 28 event carries the tagline “Pro and Tell,” hinting at new MacBook Pro models. The event begins at 10 AM Pacific Time, or 10:30 PM IST, and was confirmed by Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company could introduce a touchscreen MacBook Pro with an OLED display, marking a major change for its laptop lineup.
The rumored high-end models are expected to retain 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes while replacing the existing notch with a Dynamic Island. A reinforced hinge could help keep the display stable during touch interactions, while a lighter design is also anticipated. Apple may retain the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips in these premium models, rather than introducing newer processors immediately. Separately, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro could receive an M6 chip, replacing the M5 processor used in the current version. Touch input is expected to complement the traditional keyboard and trackpad rather than replace them.
Apple could also refresh its 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip, although major exterior changes are not expected. The updated desktop would offer a newer processor while retaining its familiar all-in-one design.
The iPad mini 8 is another anticipated announcement. Rumors point to an OLED display, a potential move to the A20 Pro chip, and a redesigned speaker system intended to improve water resistance. Apple could also reposition the front-facing camera for landscape use, matching the orientation of other recent iPad models. These changes may push the tablet’s price higher than its predecessor, which launched at $599 in the US.
Apple has not officially confirmed the rumored hardware specifications or pricing. The new products could become available for preorder on October 28, with sales potentially beginning November 6.
