Insta360 has announced the Insta360 Mic today. The wireless microphone sits between the entry-level Mic Air and the flagship Mic Pro that the company already sells. The new model brings some of the Mic Pro’s features to a lower price point, including a screen that you can personalize and onboard audio recording through a microSD card slot.
The transmitter’s E-Ink display can show an uploaded image, whether it’s a channel logo, an emoji, a landscape, or a photo of your dog. Since the microphone clips onto your shirt or jacket, the screen also gives you a way to personalize its appearance on camera.
The microSD slot lets the transmitter record audio independently as a backup to whatever your camera or phone captures. It supports 32-bit float recording, which provides more room to recover audio levels during editing if a recording comes in too loud or too quiet.
Noise reduction and camera compatibility on Insta360 Mic
Insta360 has also added a dedicated AI audio chip for noise reduction. The company says it cuts more background noise while leaving fewer audible artifacts, helping voices sound natural. There are two modes available: Auto to prevent clipping, while Dynamic keeps volume levels more consistent. You can also choose between three voice tone presets: Regular, Rich, and Bright.
The Insta360 Mic can connect directly to compatible Insta360 cameras through Bluetooth, so you don’t need the receiver. For other cameras and phones, the receiver connects through the included USB-C smartphone adapter or a 3.5mm cable. It can handle up to four transmitters at once, including a mix of Insta360 Mic and Mic Pro units.
Each transmitter is rated for up to 13 hours of battery life, while the charging case extends the total runtime to up to 34 hours.
Price and Availability
The Insta360 Mic is available through the Insta360 Official Store, Amazon, and authorized retailers. Below are the prices for the transmitter, or transmitter plus receiver set:
- Insta360 Mic (2 transmitters + 1 receiver): US$249.99
- Insta360 Mic (1 transmitter + 1 receiver): US$139.99
