Apple’s OLED iPad Mini finally launches, and it’s thinner, tougher, and packed with A20 Pro power. The compact tablet swaps to an OLED Super Retina XDR panel, an IP67 body, and stronger AI performance on iPadOS 27. Here’s a look at everything that’s packed inside Apple’s newest and compact iPad.
iPad Mini specifications and features
The 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel is the biggest jump on this iPad MIni, with a 2316 x 1512 resolution at 326 ppi, 600 nits for everyday content, and 1,200 nits peak for HDR. Nano-texture glass is optional on higher storage configs if you want less glare for outdoor reading and Apple Pencil work.
Under the glass sits Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which the company rates up to 60% faster for CPU tasks, up to 2.7x for graphics, and up to 4.5x for AI versus the previous A17 Pro iPad mini, in line with the same silicon wave that powered the iPhone 18 Pro.
The chassis is just 5.4 mm thin and about 255 g on Wi-Fi (263 g cellular), with an IP67 rating that finally brings real water and dust resistance to the mini line. Acoustic Display speakers push sound through the panel so there are no speaker holes, Touch ID stays in the top button, and the 12-megapixel front camera now sits on the landscape edge for better video calls.
The rear 12-megapixel camera shoots 4K60 with a new adaptive flash, while Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Apple Pencil Pro support, and iPadOS 27 with Siri AI round out the package. Cellular models use Apple’s C2 5G modem and are eSIM only.
