Design
Asus and Samsung put much effort into creating innovative designs this year, especially with these two devices. Both Asus Zenfone 6 and Samsung Galaxy A80 come with rotating camera modules in order to guarantee a notch-less display and let people use the rear cameras as front camera. This also results in very narrow bezels around the display, with the Samsung Galaxy A80 boasting the highest screen-to-body ratio. Both the phones have a glass back and an aluminum frame, but unlike the Zenfone 6, the Samsung Galaxy A80 has an in-display fingerprint scanner instead of a rear-mounted one. I even like more the rotating mechanism of the Galaxy A80, if we only talk about the aesthetics.
Display
The best display panel is undoubtedly the one found on the Realme X2 Pro. It is the only to support the HDR10+ standard for richer image quality, especially with multimedia content. Further, it has a 100 percent DCI P3 coverage and even a higher 90 Hz refresh rate that is very great for gamers. Despite being an IPS panel, the display found on the Zenfone 6 is still a high-end screen with a Full DCI P3 coverage and HDR10 support. And even though the Samsung Galaxy A80 has an AMOLED display, the Zenfone 6 looks more interesting. However, as said above, it lacks an in-display fingerprint reader.
Hardware/Software
The most performing smartphone of the trio is the Realme X2 Pro as it is one of the most powerful flagships out there sold at a midrange-class price. It is even equipped with up to 12 GB of RAM and a UFS 3.0 internal storage, that is simply amazing. The second place goes to the Asus Zenfone 6 fueled by the Snapdragon 855 chipset and up to 8 GB of RAM, while the Samsung Galaxy A80 is just an upper mid-ranger with its Snapdragon 730 processor, but it is still very fast and smooth.
Camera
The cameras found on the Asus Zenfone 6 are the most interesting not only because of the photo quality but also because of its flip-up mechanism allowing you to take photos from unusual angles. Further, the rear camera can also be used as a front camera. The Realme X2 Pro deserves a second place with its 64 MP quad camera which is more versatile for various kinds of scenarios, while the Samsung Galaxy A80 is not so exciting despite its rotating camera mechanism.
Battery
The presence of a huge 5000 mAh battery makes the Asus Zenfone 6 last a lot more than its rivals on a single charge, despite the IPS display. It even supports reverse charging so that it can be used as a power bank.
Price
You need just €399/$444 to grab a unit of the Realme X2 Pro in the base configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Asus Zenfone 6’s listing price starts from €499/$556, while Samsung Galaxy A80 actually costs about €450/$500. If you do not care so much about cameras and battery life (in that case Asus Zenfone 6 is a more correct choice), Realme X2 Pro wins this comparison due to its better display and performance, but it lacks an innovative design and high-end cameras.
