Huami’s Amazfit brand has launched the much-anticipated T-Rex Pro smartwatch. The wearable is an upgrade over the T-Rex that was launched at CES 2020 and has been a hot-selling product with impressive reviews.
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro retains the rugged design of its predecessor. The watch reportedly passed 15 military-grade tests and is designed to withstand different kinds of extreme conditions. Amazfit also subjected it to three extra endurance tests to ensure it ticks all the boxes as a rugged smartwatch.
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro adopts a 1.3-inch always-on AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360p and 277PPI. The display has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and an oleophobic coating. It also comes with a 3-axis acceleration sensor, a blood-oxygen saturation measurement system, a Geomagnetic sensor, an Altimeter, a 3-axis gyroscope, 10 ATM water-resistance, and four global navigation satellite systems of GPS, and now, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo navigation systems. It equally supports Bluetooth 5.0 BLE.
The watch’s design is attractive and the frame has a robust metal-sprayed outer bezel that keeps the weight light and complements the watch’s pleasing rugged texture. The strap is made from skin-friendly silicone material with a design that lets sweat flow through easily.
The watch also comes with more than 100 sports modes and runs on Amazfit’s RTOS. It features 24 hours heart rate monitor thanks to the BioTracker™ 2 PPG Bio-Tracking Optical Sensor onboard and alerts the user if the heart rate is too high. It also comes with a sleep tracking feature.
For power, there a 390mAh battery that can last up to 18 days on typical usage and up to 9 days on heavy usage. The battery will stay up to 40 hours on GPS mode and it takes just 1.5 hours to charge it from empty. Charging is done via a magnetic charging base.
The smartwatch is available in three colors – Meteorite Black, Desert Grey, and Steel Blue. It carries a price tag of RM 659 in Malaysia. Amazfit has also disclosed that it will be sold in the U.S for $179.99 and in the U.K for £139. The watch will go on sale in the US via Amazfit U.S on March 23 and in the U.K on March 31 via Argos and Amazfit UK.
